Make Your Dream Home Come True!
We might wish to build a home of our dream, but in some rare cases, the trouble appears when the engineer makes his dream over power yours! Never let down your plan, and before employing a person to supervise your home construction, give him your perfect idea of the home and then allow him to work. Always keep your mind open to receive his consultation, but be aware not to forgo your ideas.
Be it, while designing the main entrance of your home, even the doors and windows of your home see to that you are able bring the best of your imagination come true! It is only then, towards the completion you would be able to see Your home at reality and not the engineer’s!
Two Point Perspective
Two Point Perspective is one where two points are selected above the human eye level and all the line coverging to those points. Select the height and frame the whole building within this zone. This gives better details of the building along with blocks and sky line.
Here generally the selection of height is not fixed, it depends on view which has to be given importance but we have to maintain the ration among the various dimensions of the building. This gives almost the picturous view of the building. Relatively this give more importance to the viewer to understand the building.
Construction Of Anti-termite Obstacles
The construction of anti-termite obstruction can be done during the construction of foundation. This is quite remarkable method to protect the building from termites where we have to do following operations.
- Foundation should be constructed with dense concrete or such solid material which is impervious to termites, cement mortar must be used in bricl or stone work in foundation. The quantity of mortar must be sufficient so that there should not be any gap or passage for termites.
- Cement mortar must be in place of lime concrete and 0.5% aldrin or dieldrin as anti-termite must be mixed. There must be proper compaction of cement concrete in foundation within the required time.
- 7.5cm thick cement concrete slab should be projected on both the sides at plinth level. This 7.5cm thick cement will be quite strong for termites to penetrate, at the same time project will work as D.D.C. against dampness.
- Metal is found better than concrete to control termites because some metal is used to produce poisonous 45% ions with the atmospheric effects of water and air. Therefore, copper, zinc and aluminium sheets are recommended. These may be placed in foundation wall and projection of 5 to 7 cm with a bending of 45%.
Floor Treatment: The lime concrete for floor can be extended to outside with a nominal projection which will produce obstruction in the passage of termites. Such type of construction methods we were applying even in olden days when we did not have the knowledge of these chemicals.
Joint Treatment: Sometimes terminates make their way at the joints point so it is necessary to provide a proper treatment. At such joints cellulose impregnated with anti-termite solution is done. Sometimes the joints are increased and treatment by chemicals is done for certain period and repacking with elastic material is done.
Timber Treatment: All timber must be treated with anti-termite chemical which may be same. Terminate control in existing building can be done by following methods: creation of poisoned soil all around the foundation, destruction of termite nets, repair of cracks, floor must be treated properly before repair and treatment of terminate tunnels, mounds and runaways. These treatments can be done with the help of anti-termite solutions.
Transparency In Building
Buildings are having crucial spaces for various functions and uses. For all these spaces we need air and light where there is a great importance of natural light to perform various functions. We need doors for circulation from one cubical space to another. Sometimes these doors also help for circulation of air and penetration of light from one functional space to other functional spaces or from outside open spaces. These doors can be operated according to your desire but it can disturb your privacy. In true, sense windows and ventilators can help you in better way and it defines the characteristic of space and function. These windows will speak about the form of transparency, quality of space and related values of materials used. An architect is responsible to create space, and creating space and generating space for man and his functions. These spaces are enclosures which are differentiating an inside spaces in relation to the outside space.
Outside spaces of a building are further defined by the surrounding fence or boundary wall to establish a relation with outside subjected to a strong sense of enclosure with limited amount of controlled opening advantages to create an environment to perform functions. On the other hand, public transparency towards outside to take natural daylight as much as possible with respect to functional aspect. Today it is quite important for which architects and people are paying more attention and are particular to incorporate it in planning. So, today glass is the integral part of architecture in many ways. It can be used in many forms and for various functions but its accessories are crucial to create harmony with fenestrations. This can help to create dynamicness in space. This play of light is 50% responsible to create the importance of function or functions. This transparency ca n be achieved by glass and plastics. This can be use in folding and unfolding manner. This also helps to create visual impact on man.
Preservation Of Wood As An Important Building Material
Wood is a natural organic material which can grow in nature with the proper manure and atmospheric conditions which can last for a very long period. It is an inherently stable building material. A large number of species have such physical and mechanical properties which are quite suitable to building construction and a few of them specially favor the engineering use because these remain sound for a long period even in adverse natural conditions. Before the use as building material selection of wood, selection of part of logs and seasoning operations are most important. Since it is an organic material therefore it is quite able for other life organism if they get suitable environmental conditions for their growth. The most serious defects in wood are wood-rotting, fungi, wood-boring insects particularly termites and marine bores. Wood can also be destroyed by fire, chemicals, mechanical wear and weathering actions are very slow.
Natural Aspect For Durability Of Wood: Different woods have different resistance powers to resist deterioration due to fungi and insects. For example, mango and semul wood can resist for two years when it comes in contact with ground while teak and sal wood can resist for more than 25 years and other moderate wood can resist for 5 to 10 years. The durability of wood also depends on the pressure of various toxic substances in the cell cavities of sap wood which is converted into heart wood. In fact the sap wood or light colored wood on external surface of trunk does not contain toxic substance.
Marine-borers As Enemies Of Wood: When timber, structure is constructed in salt then marine borers attack on wood. These are two types: one which enters in wood through pin holes and grows inside of a large size by boring holes up to 30cm long of 2cm diameter and second type is just beneath the surface causing its erosion by sea allowing fresh surface to be exposed for attack. Any wood on earth does not have the quality to resist the marine borers.
