Lots could be said about the furniture that comes to decorate your portico and living room. The items that adorn these two areas should be both attractive and at the same time be comfortable for the people seated there. Instead of going for costly sofa sets, that occupy enormous space in your rooms and also reduce the moving area, it would be a better option to opt for chairs and teapoys, depending upon the size of your room.

As a matter of fact, the guests would generally prefer to have a comfortable seating at your home rather than to have a cozy place that is pillow-like! Also, when the tables or teapoys are of light weight, they encourage the guests to do a little bit of reading, if in case you are a bit busy before attending them.

When we speak about each and every room of our home, we would gradually realize that each room has its own specialty and uniqueness. That is the reason for them to receive special attention. Coming to the study room of your kids, make it a point to have tiles and flooring that would not be so attractive and distractive for your little ones. Let them be bright colors but don’t go for gaudy shades.

Try using tiles that depict some nice thoughts related to education and other moral values instead of going for plain ones. Also, in the choice of furniture, if your kid is matured enough to pick up the one he loves, let him go ahead. Do not restrict him to buy what you prefer. Rather give him suggestions if you feel that the furniture what he have selected is not suitable for a study room.

Each room in your home has its own importance to be given special care. It is not that only the portico and the drawing room that are visible from out needs to be furnished well. We work in all the rooms of our home and of course all the rooms come together to make our beautiful home. Is it not?

In this regard, taking the drawing room, naturally as it is the place where the guests would be seated, the type of furniture and carpeting itself should be attractive and give an ambient atmosphere for them to sit and have a talk with you. See to that the wallpapers are natural and scenic in nature as most of the people have a special liking for such visuals instead of being so artistic with modern art wallpapers.

In the homes, generally, furniture is given due importance as they enhance the look of the home. So, for this purpose, choosing the right type of things that would be the most optimal for your room and at the same time be of the best value for your money should be chosen. For instance, if you wish to have a sofa set at the drawing room, go for the soft and comfortable sofas, as they would give the best look for your room.

In the bedroom, you might wish to have a drawer by your side. In that case, go for multi-purpose drawers, as they would serve you with so many other uses just as its name suggests! Go for simple study tables in your kids’ study room, as fascination in that room would end up in distraction and lack of concentration in studies!

When furniture are used these get lot of impressions such as white rings and spots due to damp sups, glasses, oil base materials, wine glasses, etc. The various remedies are given below to maintain the furniture and house.

• The white ring due to damp cups can be removed by rubbing with a soft cloth moistened with spirit.
• If alcohol has left white spots on your varnished or painted tabletop, use Vaseline vigorously with a cotton pad. Generally, fresh spots disappear after one application but old spots may require several operations.
• Machine oil can be used to eradicate scratches on furniture.
• Simple and inexpensive method to clean furniture is by taking two tea spoons of olive oil and one tea spoon of vinegar to a liter of warm water and keeps this solution warm while using. When it is used to remove dust etc, from the furniture, it will leave a light oil treatment on the wood surface. Now rub dry with a clean and soft cloth to get freshness in furniture.
• Rubbing with walnut meat and salt an old scratches give a better result. The oil of walnut will color the scratches so that they will not be noticed. The oil gives them nourishment and protection against dryness and restores the natural gleam of the wood. Even tooth paste has nuts oil which can also be used. Keep tooth paste on the marks and let stand for few minutes, then rub with soft cloth and repeat it if necessary. Tooth paste can be used to remove small scratches of glass screen of T.V. by rubbing with soft cloth.
• Iodine can be used to conceal the scratches on furniture. Even different colors may be used to give different shades to furniture.

Space design without furniture and equipment has no importance because workable environment can be created only by them along with colors and other elements. Fundamentally, the interior decorators mission is to develop method to house people and necessary furniture and equipment, in a manner which will permit the efficient performance of a work in a reasonable comfort and at a minimum cost for space. Here we must be careful for the following points:

More space for excess furniture: Extra furniture presents another kind of problem which are even not used for any specific purpose or which are not used frequently. This type of furniture provides better space utilization and we can create different blocks of space. The proper approach is to examine the space carefully with various consideration ad compare the degree of utilization obtainable with each type of furniture to compare the probable costs.

Oversized Furniture: We must avoid oversized furniture otherwise it requires more space, more time in movement, may not be attractive and it may not create harmony. Here oversize means that the sizes of furniture should not be more than the required sizes as per functions.
